The Festival de Cine Iberoamericano de Huelva is today the limelight for Latin-American films par excellence. For more than 30 years, the Festival de Cine Iberoamericano has presented the most remarkable audio-visual creations from Latin America by both masters of the genre – such as Humberto Solás, Manoel de Oliveira, Miguel Littin, or Arturo Ripstein – and young amateurs who present their works here.
Since its creation in 1975, the Festival de Cine Iberoamericano de Huelva has occupied a privileged place among international cinema festivals, as it has offered and still offers Latin-American films the chance of gaining access to the European market – not only thanks to its location at southern Europe, but also to its recognizable, Latin-American features. They make the Festival very attractive to international professionals, who find it a unique opportunity both because of the quality of the films and the rigorous selection of materials for the program, which is attractive to both the audience and professionals.
Famous Latin-American directors, producers, and actors and actresses have participated at the festival throughout all these years, what has given the festival its present reputation. Luis Buñuel, Juan Antonio Bardem, Federico Luppi, Vicente Aranda, Camilo Vives, José María Morales, Manuel Pérez Estremera, Adolfo Aristarain, Cecilia Roth, Norma Aleandro, Ernesto Alterio, Maribel Verdú, and many others have been at the Festival de Cine Iberoamericano de Huelva.
