Breakwater Beach
Juan Carlos I

Juan Carlos I Breakwater Beach is the only beach belonging to the municipality of the capital of Huelva. It was born as a result of the construction of the breakwater Juan Carlos I, which facilitated the entry into the estuary of Huelva.

It is a tongue of sand 2.5 kilometers long and 40 meters wide, on the right bank of the breakwater. Its uniqueness is due to the fact that it is formed by adaptation to an environment of a very adverse ecosystem of mobile dunes, poor in nutrients and high salinity. Due to these conditions, its vegetation consists mainly of sea grass, barron, sea holly, milkweed, sea lily, sea caterpillar, barilla pinchosa and marine polygon.
