Marismas del Odiel Nature Reserve

Minutes from the city, the Marismas del Odiel Nature Reserve is a captivating place with its biodiversity and cultural heritage. Recognized by UNESCO as a Biosphere Reserve in 1983, these marshes sculpted by the sea and the Tinto and Odiel rivers are home to 250+ species of migratory birds. Discover exhibitions, routes and sustainable activities at the Anastasio Senra Visitor Center, connecting with the ancient history of Tartessos and the Roman influence.

Juan Carlos I Breakwater Beach

Juan Carlos I Breakwater Beach, coastal treasure of Huelva, stands out with 2.5 km long and 40 m wide. Surrounded by moving dunes and high salinity, it is home to diverse vegetation. Ideal for bathing, walks, sport fishing and surfing, it offers picturesque sunsets. Its walkways 5 and 6 give access to a special area for pets.

Conquero Viewpoint

Visitors’ Center of Odiel Marshes Natural Area

The Visitors’ Center of Odiel Marshes Natural Area is the ideal starting point for exploring the local biodiversity. Calatilla de Bacuta Pathway

The Calatilla de Bacuta Pathway provides an enriching experience with unique views: traditional Bacuta salt pans and industrial Aragonesas salt pans, with flamingos adding to the spectacular scenery. At the end of the path, the Enmedio Island displays the largest spoonbill colony in Europe, as a Nature Reserve with a commitment to conservation and biodiversity.

Bacuta Salt Flats Trail

Located in the Odiel Marshes Natural Area, it offers a historical tour of the salt marsh system. From the Anastasio Senra Interpretation Center, a 2.8 km trail takes you to explore traditional salt pans and their manual salt extraction. A short walk that combines history and nature in this unique environment.

La Ría Walk

La Ría Walk on the left bank of the Odiel River connects city, sea and port. Designed by Martínez Lapeña-Torres Arquitectos, it offers amphitheaters, pergolas, kiosks and shade from pine trees. Overlooking the Muelle del Tinto, it is an impressive place to watch the sunset and connect with regional mining and port history.

Colón Monument

The Columbus Monument in Huelva pays homage to the sailors and the voyage to America. Designed by Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney, it rises 37 meters and features a cubist style with elements of Aztec, Inca, Mayan and Christian cultures. Inaugurated in 1929, it immortalizes the exploration and historical connection between Huelva and Columbus.

It connects visitors to the Odiel Marshes and contributes to the rehabilitation of wild animals to release them into their habitat. Since 2001, CREA has been dedicated to recovering and rehabilitating endangered species in Andalusia.
