How to get there

By road:

The A-49 is a comfortable and safe motorway linking Huelva with Seville. You can also reach Huelva if you come from the north, from Extremadura, on the N 435 and from the west from Portugal. From Madrid, either take the National V to Mérida, linking up with the N 435 or to Seville and link up with the A-49.

By bus:

The company Damas S.A. operates connecting services between towns in the province of Huelva, Seville, other destinations in Andalusia and Portugal. The bus station is located in Avenida Doctor Rubio s/n. Telephone: 900 859 654. Check winter timetables 2023/2024 Damas.

The company Socibus S.A. also operates regular services to Madrid. Phone: 902 22 92 92

Alsa offers a bus service linking Huelva with Lisbon, Faro, Albufeira, Tavira, Lagos, A Coruña, Santiago de Compostela and Vigo.

The company Flixbus offers a bus service linking Huelva with Lisbon, Faro, Albufeira, Lagos and other destinations in Portugal.

By train:

The high-speed train, AVE, connects Huelva with Madrid in a journey time of only 3 hours and 40 minutes. Currently you can get to Huelva train station from Santa Justa Station (Seville), from Madrid Puerta de Atocha station, or from Zafra station.

Please note that if you buy your AVE and “Larga Distancia” tickets at stations, prices will be increased by 5.5% for handling fees. Children between 4 and 13 years old have a 40% discount on the base fare on all trains. Children under 4 years of age travel free of charge without occupying a seat.

By sea:

Since 2011 there has been a ferry linking Huelva with the Canary Islands, specifically to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

There are currently 2 ferry companies operating crossings to the port of Huelva: Naviera Armas – Transmediterráneawhich connects the capital with Las Palmas de Gran Canarias, Arrecife (Lanzarote) and Santa Cruz de Tenerife, and Fred Olsen Express, which operates routes connecting Huelva with Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, La Gomera and La Palma. To get to the port of Huelva, specifically to the Outer Port, there is a free passenger transport service between the city’s Bus Station and the Ferry Terminal.

By air:

The nearest international airports are Seville Airport (SVQ) and Faro Airport (FAO) in the Algarve, both approximately one hour’s drive away.

There is a direct bus service between Huelva and Faro Airport offered by the Alsa company. The journey takes 1 hour and 45 minutes. You can check the timetable on the website of www.alsa.es
